Driving Mode Advice for Eco-Driving Assistance System With Driver Reaction Delay Compensation

Current research on eco-driving has focused solving an optimal control problem (OCP) to generate a speed profile be tracked by drivers. The optimization variables are often chosen as low level actions such engine torque and gear positions, which leads complex mixed-integer problems. In this brief, we propose assistance system (EDAS) improve current EDAS in two aspects. First, adviser with simplified dynamical model is designed using predictive (MPC) provide not only but also real-time high driving mode advice cruising coasting. Second, drivers’ reaction delay follow the explicitly compensated, mitigates effect of fuel savings. time converted spatial parameter MPC advance. To demonstrate efficiency effectiveness proposed EDAS, numerical study simulation measured data from real-life test conducted. Comparisons made between controller considering both inputs without driver’s delay.
